| | presently live outside their country of birth. Of |
| | these international migrants, close to one half |
| | are women. Despite the great number of female |
| | migrants, there has been a striking lack of |
| | gender analysis in the economic literature on |
| | international migration and development. |

| | This volume analyzes the determinants and |
| | implications of women's migration in various |
| | parts of the world. It discusses topics such as |
| | the gendered determinants of remittances, the |
| | labor market performance of female migrants and |
| | policy options to enhance the benefit of female |
| | migration in destination and source countries. |
